After spending several hours myself this fixed it for me: Open explorer -> right click on Documents -> in the documents library pane click the Restore Defaults button -> click Apply iTunes continues to see the files as if they were in the same place as they have always been, while the operating system actually accesses them from the new location. That's how my explorer got fixed. This should not be a concern unless you're storing non-iTunes media content in your iTunes Media folder.
