It seems there are different kinds of .png files. The best way to address this issue is to add the website to IE's compatibility view list. I recommend Opera, I've heard it's been tested and is the best browser for XP, though a little hard to use, especially if you're used to IE. Removing general crap using HijackThis.

Simply loading the PNG in GIMP and re-exporting it as PNG solved the issue. I can and probably will convert these to gif files, however I am just irriated by this and it's driving me crazy. For some reason, the images display correctly on some of my webpages for both IE and FF but not on the page in question.
