Try Netsh firewall add portopening TCP 80 "HTTP Port 80" to open port 80. I have a windows 2003 server up and running with same infrastructure, and it works fine. Either it works great out of box, or its simply painful. All I need is IIS. weblink on localhost, nothing.
Before that, I used to work for Microsoft where I helped build the IIS 7.0 and ASP.NET products. Make your new site respond on a different port besides 80, then make a DNS entry for it pointing to the IP and port. Did you check the event log? This documentation is archived and is not being maintained.
Reply Anonymous September 19, 2008 at 11:50 am Mike, I got it. I've tried it with the permissions wide open in IIS and I've also been playing with permissions in the file system. It needs to provide the domain-level security, plus a ton of storage space (4TB) for my wife's photo shoots (~5GB each), and host our website(s). Sure some things still may need to be tweeked, but at least all options are available.
